I’ve been quilting long enough now that I’ve collected a stash of fabric. Actually more than a stash. A closet full. A closet that unfortunately seems to get more full ever time I go to the quilt shop to drop off a finished quilt top.
I now understand the plaque my mom had in her sewing room. One that read ‘The one who dies with the most fabric wins.’
In an effort to use up some of the fabric I’ve been collecting, I determined to make patchwork quilts for my older grandkids in their favorite colors. Pink for my granddaughter, and green and blue for the two boys.
It was fun to pull out fabrics from previous projects and coordinate them for these quilts. Of course, to finish them, I needed just a few more pieces of additional matching material…
So I don’t know whether or not I achieved my objective of reducing my stash. Either way, I came out ahead, as the smiling faces and tight hugs after presenting the quilts to my grandchildren were ample reward.
